I'M ANDY MITCHELL
Writer. Game Designer. Composer.
I am a Maryland-based writer, game designer, and composer with a love for worldbuilding and storytelling across games and interactive media.
I grew up on a steady diet of Atari, NES, and tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons and Star Frontiers, and my imagination has been in overdrive ever since.
I started writing stories and running tabletop campaigns as a kid, which taught me a lot about interactive storytelling and leading groups. When Neverwinter Nights released, I discovered how to build digital adventures using its toolset and began hosting online sessions with live players.
It was exciting to see my love for tabletop storytelling expand into video games. I still kept rolling dice with friends; I once ran a nearly two-year D&D campaign that took the group from level 1 all the way to 25, and I continue to host weekly sessions with friends remotely.
With two music degrees and a lifelong passion for solo guitar and music composition, I’ve been fusing my love of music and game design in recent years, writing original soundtracks for games.
I’ve also always loved movies and filmmaking; I made dozens of short films in and after high school, almost pursuing film as a career before choosing music.
I've since realized games are the perfect fusion of all those creative passions because they allow me to be a storyteller, composer, and director all at once!
I have developed everything from fast-paced, turnless tabletop RPG systems to open-world sci-fi adventures filled with unique characters and rich stories. When I’m not designing, writing, or composing, I’m usually watching a movie, playing a game, or listening to music, though I’m often interrupted by new inspirations and quickly pulled back into my creative projects.
